St John's Co-Cathedral

Important Update: New Entrance Structure for Oratory Visits and Caravaggio Centre

Effective from Tuesday 16th April 2024 , there has been a change in the entrance policy for groups visiting the Oratory.  To enhance the visitor experience and ensure the safety and comfort of all guests, only groups of up to 25 individuals will be allowed to enter the Oratory at one time.  Walking through the Oratory, one can enjoy the Caravaggio Centre (launching tomorrow).

  • First floor: ‘Face to Face’ is an area where visitors can learn all about ‘The Beheading’. The life size projections bring the visitor face to face with all the painting’s important details, that is overlooked most of the time due to the confines of the Oratory. (15 mins)
  • Ground floor: Another of Caravaggio’s attractions space for the painting depicting St Jerome Writing. Interactive displays provide information relating to the history of the painting and focus on the educational aspect.  (10 mins)
  • On same level – ‘Meet Caravaggio’ is an audio-visual area giving a narrative about the artist’s life, career, and artistic achievements of Caravaggio and his artistic production during his stay in Malta. (15 mins video)

We kindly request your cooperation in adhering to this new entrance structure when organizing visits to the Oratory for your clients. Please ensure that group sizes do not exceed 25 individuals.

If you have any questions or require further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact us. We’re always working harder to provide excellent experiences for travellers visiting the St John’s Co-Cathedral.
