AUDITION CALL: The St John’s Co-Cathedral Children’s Choir
The St John’s Co-Cathedral Foundation is pleased to announce auditions for entry to the Foundation’s children’s choir for young singers aged between 8 and 15 years. The choir represents the Foundation both locally and abroad in concerts, international festivals and competitions.
The choir is trained by leading soprano Gillian Zammit and sessions include classes in vocal technique, choral singing, history of music, theory and sight-singing which will aim to give the choristers an all-round musical experience. Apart from vocal ability and musical aptitude, an important requirement to forming part of this choir is full commitment to the project.
Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 6pm to 7.30pm and run from September through to June.
Auditions will be held on Monday 11th and Tuesday12th of July 2022 at St John’s Co-Cathedral Valletta. The deadline for applications is 30th June 2022, audition times will be allocated upon receipt of application.
Auditionees are to prepare any one of the following pieces in any key that is suited to their vocal range, the chosen piece is to be sung a cappella. Some vocal exercises will be given during the audition to check vocal range as well as some simple pitch and rhythmic tests. No previous experience is necessary.
